Fin (MEE-ney-ah); Swe (mee-NEY-ah)
The name was introduced via Mika Walteri’s 1945 novel, The Egyptian, in which it appears as the name of a Cretan princess. Walteri himself claims he derived the name from Minos.
As of 2011, Minea was the 30th most popular female name in Finland.
Her usage has also trickled into Scandinavia, due to her similarity to the popular Linnea.
