Derived from the Old Slavonic word knyez meaning “prince.” Lady Chiajna (c.a. 1525-1588) was the daughter of Petru Rares, a 16th-century Moldavian Prince. In Romanian literature, she is a sort of Lady Macbeth.

A city in Romania was named in her honor.
